We don't just talk about environmental protection—we actively support it. Because at Project Wings, humanitarian aid and nature conservation go hand in hand.
At the beginning of the year, we had the opportunity to meet Marc Helwing, the founder of Project Wings, who quickly made it clear to us with his dedication and passion: Here, words are immediately followed by action.
Transparency with the companies he works with and regular communication are very important to him—exactly what aligns with our values.
Social engagement at Project Wings means, being part of a movement that directly links humanitarian aid with nature conservation and animal welfare. The organization takes a holistic approach to tackling global challenges such as the plastic crisis and species extinction—both on the ground in Indonesia and through educational initiatives in Germany.
Why support Project Wings?
The NGO aims to make environmental protection socially acceptable. Its flagship project on Sumatra demonstrates, that sustainable development and social responsibility go hand in hand:
• The world’s largest recycling village: This project shows how environmental protection, nature conservation, and species protection can be combined with improving the living conditions of local people. Local plastic waste is transformed into sustainable buildings for education, sports, and community activities, while at the same time creating long-term jobs and establishing a functioning circular economy system.
• Helping people help themselves: The project creates jobs for locals, promotes organic farming, and strengthens women’s rights in the community.
• Education as a driving force: In Germany and Indonesia, the team raises awareness among children and young people about environmental and climate protection to bring about a long-term shift in mindset.
• Holistic protection: In addition to waste management, the organization is actively involved in reforestation and the protection of endangered species.
